Frequently asked questions.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are scheduled for 55 minutes. Typically it is helpful to meet at least once per week at the beginning of therapy. If you have different needs regarding scheduling, let’s discuss a plan that makes sense for you.

Can we meet by telehealth?

I am licensed to work with clients within the state of Vermont. If you are in Vermont, we can meet by telehealth.

I find therapy is more effective if we meet in-person at least once. This lets us understand each others’ communication styles more deeply. I also recognize that telehealth can be a great resource, and we can use it as needed and appropriate during your time in therapy.

Do you work with teenagers?

I work with individuals who are at least 18 years old.

How much does therapy cost?

Initial and follow up sessions are $135. A sliding scale is available for those earning less than $50,000 per year.

Do you take insurance?

I currently accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield, MVP, and Medicaid.

If you have a different insurance plan, I can provide you with a “superbill.” Your insurance company may reimburse you for part of the cost of seeing an out-of-network provider. If you are in this situation, I can provide you with more details. I encourage you to contact your insurance company directly as well to find out their reimbursement policies for out-of-network mental health care.

Can I have a Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have certain types of health care coverage or who are not using certain types of health care coverage an estimate of their bill for health care items and services before those items or services are provided.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services.

• If you schedule a health care service at least 3 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule a health care service at least 10 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after scheduling. You can also ask any health care provider or facility for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you do, make sure the health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after you ask.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more for any provider or facility than your Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you can dispute the bill. You can find more information here: https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights/help/guides/good-faith-estimate
